A dramatic sculptural basket handwoven in Ghana from elephant grass, shaped into a deep rust-red form whose flowing coils seem to move around the body of the piece. In Ghana’s Upper East Region, master Frafra weavers harvest elephant grass by hand, then split, soak, and soften each strand before weaving.
