The Story

This is the natural fiber sibling of our wave baskets from northern Ghana: the same flowing, sculptural silhouette, left entirely undyed so the elephant grass itself does the talking. The curves shift with the light and your angle. Tabletop storage or standalone form, it holds its own either way.

The wave is shaped while the grass is still pliable, locked in by hand tension and timing as the fibers dry. No mold, no internal support. Roughly twenty inches across, sixteen tall.

Ghana wavy baskets stopped me in my tracks at an international art market: wiggly, unstructured, unlike any basket I had followed before. They are what started my love of unusual shapes.

This is a limited series of three, woven side by side in the same workshop. Each is woven by hand, so yours will match these photographs in form, color and scale, with the small variations that come from hands rather than molds. One of the three has already found a home; two remain.


Best displayed on horizontal surfaces where its full silhouette can be read: console tables, low shelving, or open plan interiors. Works as a standalone sculptural statement or grouped with other Ghana woven forms at varying scales.

The Making
