Angel Custodio de la Piedra del Águila, Ticuna doll painter from the Colombian AmazonAngel Custodio, Colombian Amazon.

Angel Custodio de la Piedra del Águila is a Ticuna doll painter from the Colombian Amazon. His name came to me through Magno, our partner in Colombia, after a buyer asked who painted the dolls. The answer arrived later that night, and it led to a deeper visit into his workshop.

A family operation in the Amazon

Angel works alongside his family painting pucuna dolls, the Ticuna ceremonial figures that originate in the Pelazón tradition. Each doll is hand-shaped, hand-painted, and finished with the care that has made Ticuna figures recognizable around the world.
